Renovation of a Cornish Farmhouse, Truro

RENOVATION OF A CORNISH FARMHOUSE AND BARN

This is one of those projects that make you really enjoy your job. We could see it from the first site visit to this old Cornish farmhouse. Our clients had recently bought it and they contracted us to help them maximise the potential of an already impressive building.

They needed to increase the number of bedrooms to accommodate their growing family. They were also considering doing some work to a small, derelict stone barn next to the main house.

Not a bad starting point for us to get to work!

We proposed a new entrance area that also works as a link between the farmhouse and the derelict barn, which will be extended and renovated and will work as the leisure area of the house, home office and garden/boots room.

The internal layout has been completely changed: all the bedrooms have been moved to the ground floor (with the addition of the two new bedrooms in a new back extension) to allow for an amazing open plan kitchen/dining/lounge upstairs, exposing all the roof trusses. When the “guts” of your building are so interesting… why hiding them? Let’s expose them!

Planning Permission was granted for this project in February 2020.
